Presenting a vision for dementia-inclusive healthcare
On June 4, 2025, DementiaAware Kenya had the privilege of meeting with the Kilifi County Health Management Team (CHMT) to present our work and share our growing vision for dementia inclusion in the county’s health response.
During the session, we highlighted the reality that many families in Kilifi are silently navigating the challenges of dementia; often without a diagnosis, resources, or formal support. We emphasized the importance of building a dementia-inclusive health system: one that sees these families, supports caregivers, and ensures no one walks this journey in isolation.
The County Health Management Team (CHMT) offered valuable feedback and shared their own insights into the existing gaps and opportunities for collaboration. It was a productive and encouraging engagement, marking the beginning of deeper partnerships in our collective efforts to strengthen health systems at the community level.
We are grateful for the open and thoughtful conversation, and look forward to continuing this work together, for the dignity of every person, and the support of every caregiver.
