About Us
DementiaAware Kenya is a nonprofit organization working to bring dignity, understanding, and visibility to the issue of dementia in Kenyan communities.
We exist because far too many families are struggling silently, caring for loved ones who show signs of memory loss, confusion, or disorientation, often without knowing that it’s dementia, or how to respond.

What is the Problem
In many parts of Kenya, dementia remains misunderstood.
Memory loss is often mistaken for witchcraft or punishment. Elders are stigmatized.
Caregivers are overwhelmed.
And most families face this journey alone, without knowledge, care, or support.

Our Solution
We respond where support is most needed—in homes, communities, and public health systems.
📣 Community Awareness & Education
We hold forums in villages, churches, mosques, and markets to break myths and start honest conversations about dementia.
🏠 Home Visits & Care with Dignity Kits
We visit families and deliver basic care items—mattresses, diapers, gloves, soap—bringing immediate relief and restoring dignity.
🤝 Caregiver Support
We offer training and safe spaces for caregivers to share, learn, and feel seen. Because when we support caregivers, we improve the quality of care.
🏥 Health Systems Engagement
We work with county health departments to train healthcare workers, advocate for policy change, and integrate dementia into public health systems.

MISSION
To raise awareness about dementia, support families and caregivers, and advocate for inclusive health systems and policies through community education, grassroots engagement, and national advocacy.
VISION
A Kenya where dementia is understood—not feared—and where every person affected by it is treated with dignity, supported with care, and included in society.
