Caregiver Support & Empowerment
Behind every person living with dementia is often a family member carrying the weight of care; quietly, tirelessly, and often without help. At DementiaAware Kenya, we recognize that caregivers are the unsung heroes in the dementia journey, and their well-being is just as important as the person they support.
Many caregivers in Kenya face emotional stress, isolation, financial strain, and burnout. Yet, few have access to guidance, resources, or even a listening ear. That’s why caregiver support is at the heart of our work.
Our aim is to empower caregivers, not just to cope, but to care with confidence, dignity, and support. Because no one should walk this journey alone, and no caregiver should feel unseen.

This is what we offer:

💬 Emotional Support
We host peer-led support groups where caregivers can talk, cry, laugh, and grow together.
These safe spaces remind them that they are not alone.

📚 Training and Skills Building
We provide practical, hands-on training on dementia care, covering hygiene, safety, communication, and how to manage difficult behaviours with compassion.

🧠 Empowerment through Information
We help caregivers understand what dementia is, and what it isn’t, so they can advocate better for their loved ones and reduce harmful myths.
